Is Newpayroll better than using Xero or Quickbooks?

[Xero](https://xero.com/uk/) and [Quickbooks](https://quickbooks.intuit.com/uk/) are primarily accounting software packages whereas Newpayroll is a dedicated payroll software application. Our primary focus is on optimising the payroll experience whereas an accounting software package's primary focus is on helping companies manage the books.

Our focus is on enabling employee self-serve (e.g. letting employees edit their own data and view their payrolls) and enabling payroll administrators to spend as little time and effort in running each payroll.

How do employees get their own payslips?

In Newpayroll, each employee has his or her own login. This means that they can use their login to view their payslips, edit their HR information and request holidays. Their payslips are downloaded in PDF format, are emailed to them and can also be viewed online.

How many employees can I add?

There is no limit to the number of employees you can add on any of the plans we offer.

Are pensions supported?

Yes, Newpayroll supports pensions contributions for both RAS (relief at source) and net benefit. The difference between these two methods impact whether the payment to the pension provider is deducted from the employee payslip before or after income tax has been applied.

Can I connect Newpayroll to my accounting software?

ShiftAI automatically creates the payroll accounting journal which you can either download directly or which can be automatically posted to your books using your accounting software. ShiftAI supports integrations with Quickbooks, FreeAgent and Xero.

Does Newpayroll track holiday requests?

Yes, Newpayroll has uses an embedded employee calendar which can be synchronised with Google Calendar so that employee time off can be tracked inside without the need to keep spreadsheets. The benefit of this is that the holiday request logs will always be available so employees know how many days off they are entitled to and employers are aware of the holiday balances that employees are accumulating.

Do I have to send an employee his or her payslip?

Accepted Answer

You can choose to suppress auto emailing of an employee's payslip if you do not want it to be sent automatically when you run the payroll. It can then be sent by manually clicking on the employee profile inside of the payroll run and clicking email payslip.
